Last Thursday Obama issued yet another executive order. This one established a shiny new federal office that will pretend to help African Americans with their dismal record of school completion and achievement.

Flanked by Rev. Al Sharpton and other black leaders, the supreme ruler signed off on the White House Initiative On Educational Excellence ushering in another race specific initiative because blacks “disproportionately experience school discipline and referrals to special education” and their academic achievement “lags behind that of their domestic peers by an average of two grade levels, but also behind students in almost every other developed nation.”

It’s the typical governmental propaganda piece put forth by Democrats that implies there’s some institutionalized reason blacks cause trouble in school, fall behind or drop out — all at higher rates than non-black kids. Ultimately, it will have little or no effect on improving behavior, performance or graduation rates. But it will do what it was designed to do — hide the fact that until the black community demands more from itself than from Democrats and their policies, black youth will continue to struggle.

In a 2010 report, The Alliance for Excellent Education Editorial Projects in Education states that 31% of all high schools students ultimately drop out of school. Going further the reports notes that the drop out rates for Asians is 19%, Whites 23%, Hispanics 44% and Blacks 46%.

And Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu, a noted educator and public speaker specializing in black studies puts forth in his book, Reducing the Black Male Dropout Rate, that the black male high school drop out rate in some urban areas can climb as high as 70 percent.

How can this be?

Obama, black leaders and Democrats imply it’s the fault of schools and society.

Interestingly, Dr. Kunjufu notes that schools have students only 9% of the time from infancy to 18 years of age. Parents and the local community, on the other hand, have students far more than that. As a result, Dr. Kunjufu puts forth family upbringing plays a major role in the success of the student.

When was the last time you heard a politician within the Democrat party or a Democrat national black leader like Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton proclaim a lack of personal and family accountability as a significant reason for why black kids drop out?

It’s likely you haven’t because Democrats can’t acknowledge personal responsibility. To do so would invalidate their political philosophy. Democrats don’t want healthy families and strong communities, they need victims. And the villain has to be racism or the school system or some other flavor of the month. It can’t be the deterioration of family values within the black community because it is the Democrats and their social policies that have laid waste to it.

Noted Libertarian Thomas Sowell wrote, “the black family, which had survived centuries of slavery and discrimination, began rapidly disintegrating in the liberal welfare state that subsidized unwed pregnancy and changed welfare from an emergency rescue to a way of life.”

Bvblackspin.com reported government statistics show 72% of babies born within the black community are to unwed mothers. This is a big problem because it is much easier for unwed couples to break-up, leaving a one parent household typically run by the mother. (Continued)
