Michele Bachmann threw some punches on Thursday during a Glen Beck radio show. She defended her call for an investigation into whether the Muslim Brotherhood is staking a claim within the US government through infiltration.

“After the Fort Hood tragedy, a report was issued that said the real problem in our government is that we are not teaching FBI agents or our military to recognize radical Islam.” Bachmann told Beck. “We need to teach about it.”

And then she went after Democrat Rep. Keith Ellison, an investigation detractor. Ellison “has a long record of being associated with CAIR [the Council on American-Islamic Relations] and with the Muslim Brotherhood.” Bachmann charged and then accused him of “trying to shut these questions down from getting addressed.”

Keith Ellison was born in Detroit and raised a Roman Catholic. He converted to Islam at age 19 while studying at Wayne State University in Detroit. Ellison’s past includes a suspended driver’s license for some 40 unpaid parking tickets and nine moving violations. He has butted heads with the State of Minnesota Campaign Finance and Pubic Disclosure Board. He once had $25,000 in unpaid back taxes, since paid, and he has has written several articles supporting anti-American and race-baiter, Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam.

Ellison once gave a speech supporting former Symbionese Liberation Army terrorist Kathleen Soliah. Ellison described her as a woman “fighting for freedom in the ’60s and ’70s”. The speech came after she was arrested for the attempted murder of Los Angeles police officers in 1975. Ellison has also supported cop-killers Mumia Abu Jamal and Assata Shakur.

And remember that guy last year that cried telling a story that was later proven a blatant lie, during Congressman Peter King’s initial hearings on Islamic jihad terrorism. Yeah, well that was Ellison, too.

Critics will claim pointing out Ellison is no angel, that he has a colorful past and questionable affiliations doesn’t demonstrate he has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood (and its spin-off organizations). Perhaps not. But this might.

The relationship between Ellison and Nihad Awad, co-founder of Hamas-linked CAIR, was known by 2006. CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case. Awad, who has stated publicly his support for Hamas, has spoken at Ellison fundraisers. Several CAIR officials have been convicted of jihad terror. CAIR’s co-founder Omar Ahmad has spoken for Islamic supremacy.

Ellison was the Keynote speaker at the 2007 CAIR Greater Los Angeles Area banquet.

In 2008, Ellison decided to take a trip to Mecca. Did he squirrel away money like you and I might? Nope. He accepted $13,350 from the Muslim American Society (MAS) to fund the trip. Here’s a link regarding his trip.

Who is MAS? They are a front organization for the Muslim Brotherhood. Designed as a non-profit, it helps the Brotherhood circulate cash for political influence — perhaps like Ellison’s trip — without having the Muslim Brotherhood’s name on the check. Here’s a link to a court document regarding MAS (see page 58 footnote 13).

Can you guess its agenda? If you guessed MAS wants to ‘impose Islamic law in the U.S. and to undermine U.S. counter-terrorism policy’, you’re a winner.

Bachmann is right in her efforts to pull Ellison out from the shadows because some how, some way and at some level Ellison is dirty. Maybe he is highly devoted to the cause. Or perhaps he has allowed his influence to be bought. Whatever the case, his over the top response to Bachmann’s call for an investigation — remember that’s actually all she did — just shows he wants the topic off the table.

Isn’t that what you would do if you knew an investigation would ultimately include you?
